It would be useful I'm sure if I knew the name of this restaurant, but it´s the type of restaurant that doesn't have a name. If you want a taste of the food from the Tucuman province this is a great place to get it. Locro, Humita and Beef or Chicken Empanadas are what is on the menu. Add a bottle of wine for 6 pesos and you end up with a great meal in a beautiful old building for really cheap.

It's right around the corner from the famous Tortoni café if you want to see something historic afterwards. Otherwise, assuming the weather is good, there is a small park on the corner of Rivadavia and Esmeralda where you can relax the legs. If your timing is right, you might bump into the rest of the working world who comes here around lunch time when the sun is out.

Tucuman Restaurant

 How to get there:

Take the Subte Line D from Plaza Italia to the station 9 de Julio. Walk along 9 de Julio towards Boca/St. Elmo until you get to Rivadavia which is around 3 blocks. Go down Rivadavia around 3 blocks, you'll pass the back entrance of Café Tortoni and then it's a little further at the address below.

 Other details:

Located on Rivadavia, around 781, the entrance is hidden next to the kiosco. Go through the big wooden doors and find yourself a free table. Once you're there be sure to wave your hands madly in a vain attempt to attract the attention of the solitary waitress. It's not that the service is bad, it's just that she there a lot of mouths to feed. Open from 9am to 6pm only, Monday to Friday.
